Roy Baker is a dynamic individual known for their exceptional achievements the sport’s Industry and the significant progression and evolution of the sport of Kickboxing, within the world governing body of WAKO, the IOC and Sport Accord. This alongside with a career spanning over 40 years, Roy Baker has made significant contributions to the development of kickboxing globally, demonstrating unparalleled expertise and passion for their work and the evolution of the Energy industry in Ireland and England.

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland Roy Baker pursued their education at Cardiff University, University College Dublin, and MIT here they earned a degree in accounting, a Master of Science and is finalizing his PHD this year in leadership and strategy. It was during these early formative years that Roy Baker developed a keen interest in Sports Leadership, Best practice governance and value chain efficiency and management, (Lean Six Sigma) setting the stage for a remarkable four-decade career trajectory. Roy Baker was also a multiple world and European champion in kickboxing, his athletic career spanned two decades from 1982 to 2002, where he achieved his last gold and retired. One of the longest athletic careers in this demanding sport. He is also a level 3 sport Ireland international qualified tutor (Coach of coaches), who is still active and coaching at club level  and has currently, three world and two European champions being coached by him today.

Throughout their professional journey, Roy Baker has held various pivotal roles, including President of Kickboxing Ireland for 24 years. Chair Medical and Anti-Doping Committee, President of European Kickboxing Organization, and the current president of The World Association of Kickboxing Orginisations. He was director of operations, director of transformation and currently director of change within SSE. These roles have not only honed their skills but also positioned them as a thought leader in in the sport’s Industry Roy Bakers innovative approach and strategic vision have been instrumental in driving The IOC recognition of the sport, The short listing of the sport of kickboxing in LA28 program and the adaptive and progressive delivery of good governance within the global sport of Kickboxing, always focusing on putting the athlete first. His thought leadership on the decarbonization of energy in England and Ireland has been widely commended.

In addition to their professional accomplishments, Roy  Baker, is also known for their commitment to Community Service as Chairman of a number of NGOs Whether it’s through, development of social services, community investment, national and global infrastructure, Roy Baker shows a dedication to making a positive impact both within and beyond their professional sphere.

Roy Bakers, contributions have been recognized with numerous accolades Including, Inclusion in Fyffes Irish History of sporting greats, Volunteer in Irish Sports awards national winner 2023, Kildare outstanding contribution to local sports, these recognitions underscore their influence and excellence in Sport leadership, Management, Coaching and administration.

An enthusiastic advocate for good governance and the entire ecosystem surrounding athletes and their long-term health Roy Baker continues to inspire others through their work and dedication. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, Roy Baker remains a driving force in the sport of Kickboxing and combat sports, alongside his energy industry leadership, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Roy Baker currently resides in Dublin where they continue to pursue their passions and contribute to the advancement of the Sport of kickboxing and the evolution of low carbon energy in Ireland and across the globe. Their journey is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and a relentless pursuit of perseverance and excellence.
