Yannis Pitsiladis
Professor Yannis Pitsiladis is a researcher with a focus on the interplay between lifestyle, genetics, and human health and performance. His current work, funded by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), delves into human enhancement technologies and responsible paradigms related to health and disease. Specifically, he applies “omics” (genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and proteomics) and artificial intelligence to detect drugs in sports, emphasising blood doping and testosterone.
Yannis is a member of the IOC Medical and Scientific Commission and Chair of the Scientific Commission for the International Sports Medicine Federation (FIMS). He is also a member of the Scientific and Education Commission for the European Federation of Sports Medicine Associations (EFSMA) and WADA’s Health Medical Research Committee (HMRC). Yannis is recognised as a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). His contributions extend to over 250 scientific papers, various books, and appearances in documentaries such as “Kipchoge: The Last Milestone” and “Enhanced,” showcasing his expertise in sports science, genetics, and human performance. Notable books authored or edited by him include “The Sports Gene” and “Bounce.”
