Janelle Janis

Janelle Janis is the Executive Director of Events & Business Development at Explore Edmonton. Her deep love for Edmonton is the driving force behind her success in attracting major sport, culture, and business events that not only showcase the city’s vibrant story but also elevate its social prosperity and economic resilience. With a passionate team alongside her, it is Janelle’s mission to transform Edmonton for the better, one event at a time.

Recognized for her outstanding contributions to Edmonton, Janelle was honored to be named as part of Edify’s Top 40 Under 40 class of 2021. A firm believer in giving back, she actively serves on various community and professional boards, currently chairing the Norquest College 1000 Women Committee. Janelle holds a Bachelor of Commerce as an Academic All-Canadian while competing for the University of Alberta varsity soccer team, and completed her MBA in 2021.

Despite her love of city building through events, Janelle’s greatest joy lies in being the proud mother of her two young boys.
