Lausanne Olympic Capital

For 30 years, Lausanne, together with the Canton of Vaud, has proudly held the title of “Olympic Capital” – a testament to its unwavering dedication to the world of sport. Today, Lausanne is a dynamic ecosystem where the future of sport is shaped every day.

Here, just steps from the International Olympic Committee headquarters, a dynamic network of close to 60 international sports federations collaborate with research institutions, universities, and innovative businesses.

Today, IFs that are based in the Olympic Capital have an easier and even faster access to this network: the newly established “Olympic Capital Foundation” acts as a single-entry point, pooling resources and expertise to better serve the international sports community. This collaborative environment helps IFs work more effectively, connecting them with qualified professionals and sparking new ideas to help them thrive.

Lausanne’s thriving sports culture has also led to the successful hosting of dozens of prestigious sporting events over the least 30 years, including world and european championships, numerous world cup events and finals, the 2020 Youth Olympic Games as well as some of Switzerland most important events and mass participation races.
