Lausanne Olympic Capital

Today, Lausanne and the Canton of Vaud – together known as the Olympic Capital – are home to close to 60 international sports organisations and federations.
In close proximity to the International Olympic Committee headquarters, an array of international sports federations continue to shape tomorrow’s world of sport in collaboration with R&D and academia, start-ups and specialist businesses. Institutions such as the Court of Arbitration for Sport, WADA and the ITA are also based here.

Over the years, this region has become a hub of knowledge, expertise, and pioneering thought that has left its mark on today’s sporting landscape. It is this extraordinary confluence of fresh ideas, emerging talent, and novel prospects within international sport that positions Lausanne as the premier global hub of the international sports ecosystem.
The “Olympic Capital Foundation” recently launched by the City of Lausanne and the Canton de Vaud now works to strengthen this network even further by pooling resources and skills to serve the international sport world.

The Olympic Capital has also acquired invaluable experience following its hosting of 30+ major international sporting events in recent years. Most recently in September, for example, Lausanne successfully hosted for the first time the World Skateboarding Tour qualifying competition for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
