IF Forum 2024 – Lausanne ready to welcome global sport
Lausanne – celebrating 30 years as the ‘Olympic Capital’ – is throwing open its doors once again as host to SportAccord’s IF Forum, the annual in-person, invitation-only event ‘for the IFs, by the IFs’.
The IF Forum 2024 will be held from 21 to 23 October at the Olympic Museum – the world’s largest and most complete collection of Olympic heritage – with its stunning location on the shores of Lac Léman and Alps as the backdrop.
Special significance
“As Lausanne celebrates 30 years as Olympic Capital, hosting the IF Forum 2024 takes on special significance,” explained Sébastien Griesmar, Director, Lausanne Olympic Capital Foundation, which drives forward the Olympic Capital brand.
Lausanne is home to the International Olympic Committee since 1915, to a dynamic network of international sports federations as well as numerous research institutions, universities and innovative businesses focusing on sports.
“Hosting this year’s IF Forum is testament to our commitment to shaping the future of sport alongside the 60 International Federations now based here.” he added.
IF Forum 2024 – ‘match fit and future ready’
The IF Forum 2024 ‘Ensuring your IF is match fit and future-ready’ – with AI, complex stakeholder demands and athlete health among the hot topics – is set to be a fascinating 3-day event for over 300 attendees from International Sport Federations, high profile guest speakers and exclusive IF Forum partners.
Christelle Luisier Brodard, President of the State of Vaud, will be delivering a welcome on Monday 21 October, the opening day of the Forum.
The preliminary programme, available on the IF Forum 2024 website, includes a diverse range of sessions with speakers who are leaders in their fields:
- Roy Baker, President, WAKO
- Christelle Luisier Brodard, President, State of Vaud
- Kirsty Burrows, Head of Safe Sport Unit, IOC
- Vincent Gaillard, Executive Director, World Rowing
- Nicole Hoevertsz OLY, Vice-President, IOC

As the event approaches, more speakers will be added to address the most pressing issues facing International Federations today.
“Over the years, our partnership with SportAccord has created numerous opportunities for IFs to connect and discuss the future of sports,” added Griesmar. “The IF Forum 2024 theme is incredibly timely in an environment that is changing faster and more disruptively than ever before.”
“SportAccord is proud to be based at the Maison du Sport International in the Olympic Capital of Lausanne,” explained Martin Gibbs, Managing Director of SportAccord. “We have constant access to the city’s fantastic sports ecosystem, where the future of sport is shaped every day.”
“The SportAccord team is now excited to bring together our International Federations community at the IF Forum 2024 in Lausanne – city that global sport calls home.”
