Departure Information
From Wednesday 10th April, the airport shuttle will be operating for departures. The shuttle coaches will depart from the Hilton Garden Inn hotel on the hour, every hour from 04:00 to 16:00. The shuttle will pick up from the Hyatt Regency & The Grand Hotel at approximately 10minutes and 20minutes past the hour respectively. Please ensure you allow for sufficient time to compensate for loading of luggage and city centre traffic. Delegates will be dropped off at Bus Stop J or K at the airport, which is located directly outside the Departure Hall for check-in zones B-D.
The below information has been developed to support your planning, and experience, through each step of your journey. Please read carefully.
The location of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham City Centre affords Delegates with multiple options from a transport and sustainability perspective. New Street and Snow Hill Train Stations are just a short walk away from the ICC and official Sport Accord hotels. Whether you are arriving into Birmingham International Airport, or Birmingham New Street Station, help will be on hand to get you to your onward destination.
Birmingham International Airport
As you enter the Arrivals Hall, you will be greeted by Host City Volunteers and Event Transport staff.
From Friday 5th to Friday 12th April, there will be a complimentary Shuttle service operating to and from Birmingham International Airport. The journey time from Birmingham International Airport to the official hotels is approximately 40minutes – 70 minutes.
For arrivals (Friday 5th to Tuesday 9th) the service will pick-up Delegates from Bus Stop D, just outside the arrivals hall, on the hour, every hour between the hours of 08:00 and 20:00.
For departures (Wednesday 10th to Friday 12th) the service will collect Delegates from the Hilton Garden Inn on the hour, every hour, between the hours of 04:00 and 16:00. The shuttle will pick up from the Hyatt Regency & The Grand Hotel at approximately 10minutes and 20minutes past the hour respectively. Please ensure you allow for sufficient time to compensate for loading of luggage and city centre traffic. Delegates will be dropped off at Bus Stop J or K, which is located directly outside the Departure Hall for check-in zones B-D.
Weekday peak travel times within the region are between 07:00 – 10:30 and 15:00 – 19:00, therefore it is advised to allow for 4-5 hours from your departure time.
If your arrival or departure time is outside of these dates or hours, or you are not able to wait for the shuttle service, then you can make use of the adjacent train station, Birmingham International Station, to use the frequent train services into Birmingham New Street station. Please refer to the Useful Links section for support in planning your journey and buying tickets.
Alternatively, you can make use of the taxi’s at the airport or arrange for a taxi via apps or phone.
New Street Station
If you are arriving in to Birmingham New Street station, follow the station exit signs for Stephenson Street (via Ozzy the Bull) and take one of the short walking routes to your hotel and the ICC. There will be Host City Volunteers on hand to support you, should you need guidance please locate them or the Information Desk by Ozzy the Bull.
If you require additional support with your travel from New Street Station, please note this on your registration with arrival and departure details so appropriate services can be arranged.
