LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND – Sport Liverpool and Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) will join the global gathering of sporting leaders and influencers as official Bronze Partners at the World Sport & Business Summit in Birmingham, West Midlands from 7 – 11 April.
“We look forward to spending time with our Bronze Partners in Birmingham, West Midlands,” said Martin Gibbs, Managing Director of SportAccord.
“A pleasure to welcome Sport Liverpool for their first time as a Bronze Partner at SportAccord and our old friends from the country who hosted SportAccord in 2018.”
Sport Liverpool – synonymous with sport
Sport Liverpool delivers, supports, and bids for major sports events for Liverpool and the Liverpool City Region. Synonymous with sport, the region is home to three famous football clubs – Everton, Liverpool, and Tranmere; rugby league champions St Helens; Open Championship golf courses at Royal Birkdale and Royal Liverpool; horse racing at Haydock Park, and Aintree the world’s greatest steeplechase, The Randox Grand National, which captures the imagination of millions of people globally, who will be able to have ‘a flutter’ on Saturday 13 April.
Clare Briegal, Chair of the Sport Liverpool Board, said:
“At its best, sport has a unique ability to bring people from all walks of life together to create moments they will cherish for the rest of their lives – and few places have more experience of this than the Liverpool City Region.
“We are an area with a proud history of sporting achievements, both as competitor and as a host. To put it simply, sport is woven into the very fabric of our area’s identity. Nowhere is more qualified, passionate – or embraces the spirit of an event – quite like the Liverpool City Region.”
In recent years the region has hosted the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup and the 2022 World Gymnastics Championships – both at the world-class M&S Bank Arena, and The Open Golf Championships at Royal Liverpool in 2023.
Looking forward, Sport Liverpool will see the return of the Open Golf Championships at Royal Birkdale in 2026, and Everton’s new stadium located on the banks of the River Mersey has been named as one of the nine host cities for the UEFA EURO 2028.
Brimming with history and rich in culture, Liverpool is a walkable compact city with excellent road, rail and air links, and recently weighed in as top UK city for ‘connectivity’ and ranked 4th overall for ‘large European cities of the future’ in the fDi 2024 awards, focused on inward direct investment.
Delegates can visit the Sport Liverpool team on Stand 41 in the SportAccord Exhibition Hall.
Sports Authority of Thailand – key destination for sport and tourism
Thailand is one of the world’s most visited destinations ranking eighth, with visitor numbers now reaching 39.8 million, in recent figures published by the World Tourism Organization, emphasising the growing interest in Asian culture and what Thailand has to offer.
