Kurash, a combat sport with a 3500-year history, is governed by the International Kurash Association (IKA), founded in Uzbekistan on September 6, 1998. Recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and affiliated with WADA and the International Testing Agency (ITA), Kurash featured in the 2018 Indonesian Asian Games and the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. It will appear again in the 2026 Japan Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Originating in Central Asia, Kurash is practiced across four continents. IKA’s annual development program benefits its 118 worldwide members, who participate in the annual Continental and World Championships.
