Jean-Pierre Morand
Jean-Pierre Morand took his law degree in 1983 at the St. Gallen High School of Economics and Law with the award of best School degree of the year. He joined Baker & McKenzie in New York and then Geneva and was admitted to the Bar in 1986. From 1988 to 1995 he worked as inhouse counsel and then deputy managing director of the sportsmarketing agency MBD SA which became IMG Switzerland in 1993. In 1995, he went back to private law practice at Legrand, Morand & Partners in Geneva. In 2009, he joined as partner Carrard & AssociƩs, which became Kellerhals Carrard in 2015. He is a sports law specialist with over 30 years of active experience in commercial, doping and governance issues. Counsel to several international sports federations and organizers of major events, he acts in international civil arbitration proceedings, including at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) since its inception in 1987. He is one of the drafters of the first version of the CAS Code. CAS arbitrator from 1988 to 2009, he is an ICC Switzerland listed arbitrator and the acting chair of the UCI Disciplinary Commission since 2012. Member of the Board of the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA) and the International Bar Association (IBA), he is a certified mediator (Swiss Bar Association) since 2023. He holds or has held board or executive functions in several Swiss corporations in the sectors of sports equipment, transport, finance, energy and food & beverage.
